I want to thank you for all your help.  Every aspect of the tour was just wonderful and the hotels were great. Thank  goodness for the air-conditioning, especially in Krakow, where one day it was over 93 degrees at 7:00 pm and the room was at least 79 degrees. Not what we keep our house at but better than 93.

Poland

Poland (Polish: Polska), is a democratic country in Central Europe, bordered by Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltic Sea and Lithuania. Poland covers 120,726 square miles, with a population of over 38.5 million people. The capital and largest city is Warsaw, the main language is Polish. The climate is mostly temperate throughout the country, oceanic in the north and west and gradually warmer and continental towards the south and east. Summers are generally warm, winters are rather cold. Poland has a tragic history of being divided, invaded, and oppressed by the surrounding powers. In World War II alone, 6 million Polish people lost their lives, 3 million of them Jews. Despite the vast destruction the country experienced during World War II, Poland managed to preserve much of its cultural wealth. There are currently 14 heritage sites and many historic monuments inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. There are many reasons for Poland developing into a major tourist destination. It might still be mainly its history that attracts people, just to discover the many and diverse facets of Poland’s geography, culture and a people having made their way into freedom.

We don’t get too many requests from travelers wanting to visit Eastern Europe and the old Soviet Bloc countries but when we do we tend to get pretty excited, as most of these countries have the same great landscapes, beautiful cities and architecture, culture and foods as the more familiar Western European countries. And one of the great secrets is that they cost a fraction to travel in compared to the countries on the other side of the old Iron Curtain. This is a custom trip to Poland that we put together for F. and family.
