The Czech Republic
The Czech Republic (Czech: Česká republika) is a parliamentary republic of roughly 10.5 million people in Central Europe. The country is bordered by Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland. Its capital and largest city, with 1.3 million inhabitants, is Prague. The dominating language is Czech. The Czech Republic covers 30,450 square miles, with a temperate continental climate with relatively hot summers and cold, snowy winters. Its treasures hidden behind the iron curtain for a long time, there’s more to the country than its fairy tale castles, lovely old spa towns and the good cuisine. Meet the Czech people with their great sense of humor and love of the absurd and the poetic.
The Czech Republic is one of our favorite destinations for a wide variety of reasons, and tops among them are the warm and welcoming nature of the Czech citizens and the shear affordability of travel there. Can you imagine spending $10 on a three-course meal with wine anywhere in Europe? Try Prague, you’ll be amazed.
